Here are some of answers to our frequently asked questions about Yoga and our studio.

What is yoga?
Yoga originated in India and is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means “to control, yoke, or unite.” This ancient discipline is devoted to the process of connecting a person’s mind, body, and spirit into one centered and balanced entity. This practice has been shown to dramatically improve health and mood, such as weight loss and the alleviation of depression. Yoga empowers the individual to improve his or her life in whatever way is desired by that person – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

What do I wear?
Clothing that is comfortable, light-weight, and allows the body to move is best. You will sweat, so keep that in mind when dressing for class. We do not recommend baggy shirts as they will hang in your face during certain poses.

What if I have never done yoga before?
No problem! We welcome beginners and look forward to supportively and compassionately introducing you to this life-changing practice. Just let the instructor know that you are new to yoga and you will be well taken care of.

What are the benefits of doing yoga?
You are in for a transformation! Physically yoga facilitates weight loss, muscle tone, increased flexibility, and detoxification of your organs. It also harmonizes the body, mind, and heart. Studies have shown it greatly reduces stress, anxiety, and depression levels. As our bodies are stimulated and our minds relaxed, we find that our hearts are opened and our ability to live life in authenticity and harmony increases dramatically.
